We have a guild bank!

Share
Ptilophidia
Thanks to generous donations from Awa64 and Swift (aka Lockeheed and Avelox), we now have a guild bank! Please feel free to take any items in there that you can use and feel free to donate any items/recipes/tradeskill items that you wish. And please let me know if you have any problems!

Currently, we have a lot of Stranglethorn recipes and critter parts that might be useful for people looking to level their cooking.

PS: Ptilophidia is looking for Elemental Water, Heart of the Wild, and Flask of Mojo. Please give a shout if you come across any!

Looks like the Christmas/Yule/Winter Veil stuff has started up in Ironforge!

How does Sunday night work for people? Say, around 6 PM server time? *Specific time is negotiable, please leave comment if earlier would be better*
Anyone up for instancing this weekend?

Lockeheed (awa64/lxiv in the channel) was asking about a Sunken Temple run, but I think we're not quite ready for that. Avelox and Ptilophidia have yellow quests for Zul'Farrak and possibly a green quest for Razorfen Downs (enemy level range 34 to 41).

Our quests for Scarlet Monastery (enemy level range 29 to 45) have turned grey, which means less XP... but it would still be fun to run the instance for loot.

As of the last patch, the mob levels have been lowered overall and the loot allegedly improved. For those who haven't been, the Scarlet Monastery has four "wings" with different level mobs in each; we'll need to clear the Library and kill the "boss" of the Library to get the key that will let us enter the Armory and and the Cathedral.

The main Alliance quests here are:
Mythology of the Titans (obtained in Ironforge, from a librarian in the Explorer's League area)

In the Name of the Light (obtained from Raleigh the Devout... you need to have completed Down the Scarlet Path, a quick quest chain in Desolace at Nijel's Point.)

Even if you don't have the quests, we can still romp through the Scarlet Monastery killing folks and grabbin' loot. Please don't loot bodies until we've finished fighting and any dead folks have been rezzed!

It looks like a lot of the new loot is Bind On Pick-up.
This means it'll be soulbound to you as soon as you pick it up, so:
1) If you can use it and it's an upgrade for you, let us know that you'll be rolling NEED (e.g. say in /p "Hey guys, this item's an upgrade so I'm rolling need" so that we know you're not ninja-ing stuff.)

2) If you can't use the item, but there are others who can, please consider passing on the roll

3) If nobody can use the item, and we have an enchanter with us, we can have the enchanter disenchant the item and we can manually roll for any shards that result.

4) If nobody can use and nobody can disenchant, we can mutter and grumble and either all GREED or manually roll for the right to vendor the item.

If you'd like to come along to Scarlet Monastery, please leave a comment with the best time and day for you! If you have any other instances or group quests you'd like help with, please leave a comment with date and time.

PS: I'm currently trying to save up enough money to buy a Guild Bank Vault (100 Gold for the first page). Any and all donations are appreciated!

October 3rd, 2007

Today marks the beginning of Brewfest, a brand-new World of Warcraft event! Events include ram-racing, mystery hunts, and battles against marauding Dark Iron Dwarves. Collect enough tickets, and you can buy seasonal food like pretzels and unique items like, uh, beer goggles and lederhosen, apparently.

Check out the trailer for a preview of the event!

Brewfest will be here from October 3rd to 16th.

For those who aren't interested in alcohol,
Hallow's End
should be coming around from October 18th to November 1st. (Which means Daniel and I will miss almost all of it, due to our trip.)

During Hallow's End, you can participate in seasonal PvP-related pranks, go trick or treating, and help sad little orphans, too. There may not be epic loot, but there should be plenty of fun!

Our laptop is supposed to be back from repairs this Friday, so hopefully we'll be around this weekend for questing, etc. If anyone has any group quests or dungeons they want to try, please give a shout out!

We have a new member

Merytankh has joined our ranks. I added her to the guild last night and when she thinks of it, she'll join us here too. Last I saw she was level 14 or 15.

She just got the game a couple days ago so she is a little noobish.

Oh, and if you see a mage running around named Zarana, that's me. I started her the other night to make sure Mery was getting along okay.

Who is up for some instance runs?

Avelox and Ptilophidia are currently level 39 but are happy to group for fun and profit.

Notes from the last poll:

Razorfen Kraul is in the Barrens. It has a quest that leads into the Scarlet Monastery.

Razorfen Downs is also in the Barrens. I don't think I've ever been but I'm sure one of our other members has.

The Wow Wiki has this to say about Scarlet Monastery: "Recommended character levels are about 35-45 for a group of five. The Monastery is actually made up of four small instanced "wings", each of which should take about one hour to complete."

The Graveyard wing should be easy, though, since it's mostly level 30 to 34 elites. We will need to clear the Library wing and grab the Scarlet Key if we want access to the other two wings (Armory and Cathedral).

Sam has suggested that we go for a #wiigii! instance run this weekend. Daniel and I have a wedding to attend on Sunday, but could probably manage a Saturday run or a Friday evening run (provided the VCR is cooperative).

Who's with us?

The Midsummer Festival is coming!

This is my first time experiencing the Midsummer Festival as an Alliance character (I did do some of the quests as a Horde character, but it's been a year so I've forgotten the details), so I had to look up the available quests on wowhead.com

Midsummer Quests

Basically, you get a series of quests to find bonfires in various locations (mid to high level regions on each continent, and then successively harder-to-get-to bonfires in level 60 dungeons), culminating in a series of raids on the capital cities of the opposing faction!

...which might be a little tough for us, since we're not quite level 60 yet. ;) But even if we don't get to all the bonfires, we can still enjoy the various buffs we can get. If you're lucky enough to be near a bonfire when someone tosses in a Burning Blossom, you'll receive a nice buff called "Fire Festival Fury: Increases critical strike rating and spell critical strike rating by 42."

Be there or be not-there. Most quests can be picked up in Tinker Town inside Ironforge, and at the gnome hut outside Kharanos.
